Sold price records

Illustrative London street. England and Wales sold records are live; other coverage gaps are shown, never filled in.

Research the price paid for a property

Registered sold prices show what buyers paid in completed transactions. Start with a postcode, address or place, then check the exact record before using it in your research.

How the tool works

  1. Search for the postcode or place and select the matching postcode where prompted.
  2. Compare the address, property type, tenure and sale date in the returned records.
  3. Open the exact property record to review its evidence and any available energy-certificate links.

When to use it

Use sold records to prepare for viewings, understand a home’s recorded history or put an asking price in context. Compare similar properties and allow for differences in condition, size, tenure and transaction date.

UK coverage and assumptions

The connected HM Land Registry Price Paid Data covers England and Wales. It is not a complete UK address register or a live valuation service. Recent sales can be absent until registration, records can be corrected, and some transfers are excluded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a recent sale missing?

Completion and registration happen at different times. A sale may not yet have reached the published records, or it may fall outside the dataset’s coverage. An absent result does not prove the property has never sold.

Are these asking prices?

No. The source records prices from completed transfers submitted for registration. An estate agent’s asking price is a different measure and may not become the final sale price.

Does this include Scotland and Northern Ireland?

The sold-price search uses HM Land Registry records for England and Wales. Use the relevant national land and property information services for Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Can I use the last sale price as today’s value?

Historic price alone cannot establish current value. Condition, alterations, lease terms and market conditions may have changed. Use comparable evidence and an appropriate valuation when needed.
